The VL53L0X measures exactly how long it takes for infrared light pulses to reach the obstacle and are reflected back to the detector.
The measuring range is provided via the I2C (TWI) interface of the sensor, which is also used to configure the sensor settings. The sensor also has two additional pins: turn off input and interrupt output.
Application: gesture detection or proximity detection of innovative user interfaces; wall detection, cliff detection and collision detection of household appliances.
